STARTING OUT
I'm linking videos and anything else here with advice on steps to take before starting out. Of course I'm not one who prepared a lot before I set out so I have had to learn by trial and error. I'll post my own thoughts, too, on my 20/20 hindsight vision!
About Your Address
I'm talking about your Drivers License, RV Registration/License plate Address.
What I've learned: Before you start out, secure a permanent address, Driver's license and Registration/Tags ALL from the same state.
Traveling Mailbox Services abound, but they do not work for license & registration. You will search online and find states that offer an RV address that they state you can use for your driver's license. What they don't tell you is that the new state will need your original title for your RV in order to get your registration and plates. IF YOU ARE financing your RV, your financing bank will usually/frequently NOT accept your PMB address. Not even if you use "Unit" or "Apt" instead of PMB. I learned this the hard way.
IF you are financing your RV I recommend doing FL. Florida will grant you a Driver's License using your "RV Address" through St. Brendan's Isle, or Escapees RV Club. If you are financing your RV, you have to go to the County Tax office in FL where your new address is, with your RV insurance changed to Florida, and they will send a request to your bank to send them the title. This is after they berate and belittle you for not having a "REAL ADDRESS". If your Bank refuses to send the actual title, they must do Option 2: send a letter back stating they hold the title but can't release it to Florida. My Bank didn't want to do Option 2, so it took several phone calls and over a month for them to send the letter. This was after I gave them my Permanent address in another state, and told them I would be having a Florida DL and registration because I'd be going back and forth between the 2 states.
Then you go BACK to the county office once they inform you they have your bank's letter, and complete the registration. Florida will give you a registration and tags. Then go do the Driver's License. Contact me and I will personally walk you through it.
